I feel at rock bottom again I have been on Sertraline for many years upping and lowering dose. I’m peri menopause so have been gradually increasing my dose. My question is can it make you feel worse to start with 😥

Just found this link. It certainly says the first few weeks, if you are going up, can make you feel worse. Direct from the NHS. I'm so sorry for your struggles with the med. I know any change I make I get very anxious on side effects, etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It’s such an awful feeling I feel for you too. I’m so anxious I feel physically sick just thinking about doing anything. I can just about manage household chores. I’ve always suffered from depression and anxiety over the years particularly around when my period was due. Now I’m in peri menopause it seems there’s no relief like when you actually get your period. My thoughts are with and thank you 🙏

I have been on sertraline for nearly 4 years at the high dose of 100mg.I have found out that sertraline has helped me a lot as I was taking them at the of my late dad's funeral although I had taken my tablet that morning, I was still upset as I'm a daddy's and nanna's girl. I'm 40 years old.

I have come across your post and wondered how you are getting on with sertraline. I have only been on it 3 weeks, increasing last week from 25mg to 50mg. I feel worse than I have felt for a long time. Don’t want to leave the house. My mood is at a very low point. I had changed to sertraline from venlafaxine 225 mg as this made no difference either.

I wonder am I treatment resistant. I was on venlafaxine for over 10 years. Have a form of bi polar. Cyclothymia .

Hi so sorry you are feeling this way I’m sure every day feels such a struggle for you I know I’ve been there and although better than I was I still get set backs from time to time sometimes something will trigger it sometimes it’s just a bad day/days. I would encourage you to keep up with the Sertraline for at least a couple of months it does take quite a while for things to settle down and yes from my experience I felt worse for a few weeks before I started to feel some improvement. Hang in there and remember you are not alone with these feelings. Let me know how you’re doing in another month or so thinking of you at this difficult (to say the least) time. 🤗🙏
