Every person has different elements that cause depression. For me, it has been a chemical imbalance since childhood. But, I have realized that, even in that, depression can become better when my time is occupied. I also have learned that changing routines help. I have started watching new things, readying new books, walking in new directions, etc. What are some of the things that you all do that I can try new to help me tackle the depression?

Hi Cece. I don't know if you're taking meds or seeing a therapist. When my depression relapses and it lasts longer than I can manage (like in the past several months), I take meds to help me function. At the same time, my anxiety also goes into overdrive, so I take more meds as needed. Talk therapy never really worked for me (but I know it helps many ppl). So, if you're already taking meds but still need coping strategies, here are a few suggestions: meditation, praying, volunteering, listening to podcasts while doing household chores, dancing - even do some silly moves - the silliest, the better bc no one's watching I've replied to another post and gave other ideas - so check it out if you like - it's under BlueAurora's post 'Hopelessness'. You'll also find a lot more suggestions from other members in this community...May you find peace of mind soon.
Awesome! I do take meds, & they help me quite a bit. The goal is to decrease the dosage by learning things that help tackle it. Counseling by phone or in person was not as helpful as I would have liked. But online counseling was great when I used it.
