so has anyone stopped zoloft and started Wellbutrin? Did you have a down period?I went to docs Monday, it's now sat morning @320am. I have been taking my son to school in mornings and straight coming home and going right back to bed. If I do wake up after he's home for the night I am asleep in my chair. Waking up only to get him dinner or a snack or drink.. I hate this feeling and honestly I feel like the crappiest parent EVER!! My son is 8 and autistic but verbal so he can't do alot for himself. So right now I'm awake, stewing in my thoughts while he's asleep.. I should be sleeping because he will be up in a few hrs.
my question is when will I get out of this stumper and the other meds start to work.. it's terrible .
I'm not a mom that lays around constantly yells at my kid but I AM RIGHT NOW!!
I HATE THIS!!
PLEASE someone give me some answers on when this will finally kick in and I won't be a Debbie downer! !
thanks so much!

You have correctly identified that prescribing meds is a guessing game, what works for one person, doesn't work for another or even the same drug at a different dose. The prescriber doesn't have a blood test or xray to guide them, instead relying on your symptoms and clinical skills.
Usually meds in the body start working in 4-6 weeks depending on your chemistry which is unique to you.
A tip that has worked for me in the past to improve day time functioning is to take meds at night and set up a good night to get 7-8 hours sleep.
Sleep hygeine is the term psychologists use to describe getting quality sleep which so essential to good health. Dr Google has lots of useful information about this.
it can take 2 - 3 weeks for meds to take affect and make a difference so try to do the best you can and allow them the time it takes and relax as much as you can. Being anxious about it will just make you more anxious and depressed, I know it's hard to have patience but it's the best thing you can have right now.
Any anti depressant should be taken at nite around 8 or 9 pm. Especially if you work or have a job. They can make you sleep for awhile and every one responds differently as to how they tolerate the medication. This is an illness you didn’t cause can’t control and can’t cure. We know how frustrating it can get. We are here for you. You are not alone. Do you go to a psychologist or councelor. It is good to find one to talk to and use us too. Does your family give you support? friends? It is important to have a support team. It is trial and error to find the right antidepressant. Hang in there. Zoloft didn’t help me so I am on Vibrid now.
