Brain use and anxiety

any time I try to do something that takes thinking (playing my guitar) brings on anxiety. It’s left me nearly mentally and somewhat physically disabled. I’m sure I can’t be the only who has this issue. This has been going on for months and yes I’m on meds.

I don’t know about you but my anxiety can last the entire day and into the night.

What meds are you on? Some anti-depressants can cause anxiety. Also take some time to examine what, within the action you are taking, causes the anxiety. Are you specifically worried about your mental health declining?

lamictal, vibryd and remeron and I am concerned about my mental health. Having to think brings it on. Sometimes the cause of the anxiety is unknown but it can continue all day.

I didn't see where anxiety was a side effect of any drugs you are taking but you might ask your doctor. Anxiety is rough. I have it myself. With everything going on in the world it's triggering about once a week and it usually lasts for about 6 hrs. I can help mediate some of its harshness or edge by speaking to myself about what is causing it. Also I see a counselor weekly. You might consider making an appointment and sitting down with someone to try and get a better handle on what is happening to you.

it’s starting to effect my sleep and that worries me.

Oh this I can solve. THC. Get a prescription for insomnia. I use it for depression and insomnia. Doesn't help with anxiety much though. Oh they'll try to give you a pill for insomnia instead. Be firm. Say, "NO, I've heard THC works and I'm going to try that first with or without you." Also if CBD is legal in your state you don't need a prescription. 40mg about 40 min before bed and you'll sleep REAL sleep without a prescription.

Oh, side effects:

More difficult to change your mind.

Makes you a bit more forgetful.

I suffer from severe anxiety. It paralyzes me to the point where I can't function at all.

I have the same problem. What helps me is to get up and try and stay busy for awhile. When it first occurred, I would get up, sit in the dark, suffering, for an hour or so. It would slowly lift. Now the awful feeling usually goes away much more quickly. I know exactly how this makes you feel. I hate it, but it is getting better.

I can relate, I also suffer of anxiety and affects every aspect of my life, and I agree with Agamemnon2022, that's is something you have to discuss with your therapist and he will be the best person to help you with this issue.

Nevertheless, there is something my therapist oriented me and I highly recommend to everyone cause really makes the difference. He asked to do, as part of the treatment and with the same priority level as the pills and the sessions two things: physical exercises every day for one hour (any, the one you the better or at least hate the least), and breathing exercises twice a day. These two things will allow your brain to get higher oxygen levels, and will also decrease (at least a bit) the tension that stress provokes to your muscles, what it will give you certain relieve. I hope you can try it and it helps.

Remember, the key is remember that is as important as the pills and the sessions, so you should not skip them.

Same here. I have apprehension at the slightest task. I'm ultra sensitive to stress. Also qdistressed by what's on my mind. I'm better off not thinking. I try to sleep whenever possible. The most dangerous part of it is when guilt comes into it. I think without that, everything would be fine. I should mention I am recovering from Benzos - 6 yrs off Klonopin. That carries a list of symptoms, intrusive thoughts for one. Sucks

Hi , I have been experiencing the same thing for close to 2 years now. I can do simple tasks, cut the grass, fold clothes ect but anytime I try to do anything slightly complicated I get a very bad anxiety episode and have to put it down.

it’s definitely not a fun way to live.

how about panic attacks with chills and the shakes? What to do , take Xanax? Deep breathing doesn’t seem to help.

Not always, but sometimes -- but even sometimes is a big deal -- drinking golden milk helps me with chills and shakes. My chills alternate with being overheated. Then my legs turn to rubber.

You can buy a blend to make golden milk from, or just buy the separate spices and make it to your liking.

Redbeard53, Anxiety can and does last through the day and into the night if we allow

it to. By that I mean we must get control of our emotions or anxiety will take us to

the depths of fear.

I spent years struggling with Anxiety and then 5 years with Agoraphobia. *allowing anxiety

to take over my life. That was the final straw. Would I allow a real person to harass me as

anxiety does?? Absolutely not....So why do I allow this bully, this entity which is nothing more

than a lie, a negative thought that I have been allowing it to grow.

No more, no way. This is my life and I was going to take it back. I practiced anything and

everything that would give me control again. Self hypnosis, Meditation, Breathing, Affirmations, Imagery, Biofeedback, Reiki as well as living in the present moment not the

past, not the future. You see Redbeard, as I got stronger, Anxiety got weaker. With these

methods/tools my mind got retrained with positive thoughts, positive actions. Unless we

move forward, anxiety will provoke us to stay in this cycle of fear begets fear.

So much to say, so much you can do. One day at a time. Soak in all you can from this forum

knowing others have gone through your journey and found the light at the end of the tunnel.

I did and it's amazing. You can too. Don't be afraid of change, don't be afraid to get your life

back once again. Anxiety is but a game and games are meant to win. You can win this game

as well. My best :) xx

Your title brought me here. Yes, me too. When I try to do something that requires thought, anxiety overwhelms me.

Hi Redbeard. Yes you are not alone. For instance I love listening to music. I have a very good audio system. But I can only stare at. I get extreme anxiety if I try to turn it on. Same as going to the store, taking a shower, etc. It has a grip on me that won't let go 😪. I also am bipolar, bpd, OCD. Let me know how you're doing and if you have discovered a way to reduce it. I will do the same. 👍
