Coming off Paroxetine

Hello. I’m coming off paroxetine. I’ve been taking it for 10 months. I stopped taking it 7 days ago after tapering it off for 1 month and 2 weeks. But i feel extremely bad. I’ve strong anxiety, vivid dreams, sleeping more than 10 hours a day and even more, and feeling extremely tired, i’m very nauseous, vomiting once a day, sometimes even 2 times. I never had depression but now i have troubles getting out of bed, talking to people, going out. I need to know when this will stop because i don’t think i can take it much longer.

Paroxetine is a SSRI anti-depressant. Why were you prescribed it?

Panic attacks

From what you are saying...you need it. Unless you are replacing the SSRI with something else (even natural like St John's Wort) and a good diet and exercise routine...it's pretty much a life-long medication.

What was your experience on it?

I was fine. No side-effects and no panic attacks or anxiety. But i dont know if its a good idea to take it for much longer. Especially now when i’m trying to stop them and i see how much damage they are doing. I don’t think i will ever me capable of stoping then if not now

You can try and take it every 2nd day or so. You also need to create a content/happy head space. Food and exercise is key here.

My GP even said to me to take 10 mg for 2/3 weeks and then just stop. If i tell him i dont feel good, he will just put me on it again

Having been on SSRI's off and on for 15 years, I have never heard of such "withdrawal" symptons. I think you need it.

Good luck - I hope you get it sorted.

All the SSRI's need careful withdrawal. What dosage were you on? I would suggest contacting your GP, they will probably suggest reintroducing at a low dose and then a more gradual withdrawal. Everyone reacts differently to these drugs. Some of us take longer to remove the drug than others.

SSRIs are the devil I agree. Hard to get on, even harder to get off. I actually joke with doctor about getting one. Zombie life = no anxiety
