Hi guys, I’m looking for something to take my mind off the depression. Having this terrible feeling all day every day is horrible. I’m working it out in therapy but I need something for the other times.

What do you think would help distract you? What appeals to you?

We can text If you want to. Just to say i'm going through a big crisis and probably will be the most i talk about but If it would distract you, i'm up

I make a weekly schedule for myself. Then on the days that I don't have anything planned I pick one of my hobbies.

That's a good idea, what hobbies do you have? I'm curious because I don't have any but I think I need some. Im looking for motivation and inspiration 🤔😊

I like to do paint by numbers. So easy and so many pictures to choose from. It really helps relax me.

I am glad you like this. I enjoy just painting shapes. Simple, simple, simple stuff.

I like to paint. Been thinking about painting rocks with happy colors and leaving them in my neighborhood mailboxes.

I used to love reading but find my concentration really bad but recently finished listening to an audiobook and really enjoyed it. I also like art therapy colouring in books, you can get very cheap ones and I love walking out in nature too.

Walks, journaling. drawing, painting. coloring, taking a warm bath, sipping green tea in public places, old sitcoms, watching my kids play video games have helped me.

I am struggling myself currently and it feels like a razors edge. I hope you get to feeling better.

This forum may be of great help. There are a great many people that experience the same thing that you speak of. It might not seem like it but just talking about your affliction may help to alleviate you of some of your concerns. Try it, you may be surprised.

I love watching YouTube, as Foggy mentioned. I love music and finding older concerts is fun, I subscribe to a few channels that have the same taste in music and they review new music and old music. Another great channel I can get lost in is called The Daily Woo. He travels the US but on backroads visiting small towns.

You’d be surprised how time can pass while you enjoy the videos.

When I am feeling depressed or anxious, I like to do crossword puzzles or sudokos. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea but it really works for me. I get completely distracted and like trying to see if I can finish the puzzles (which I usually can't, lol). Maybe that's something you can try. Another thing I do is pick a subject I'm interested in learning about and watch webinars. I'm really interested in nutrition and it's amazing how much I've learned from watching doctors and nutritionists online who give free webinars. Maybe you can find a topic that's interesting to you and see if you can find some videos on youtube that would give you the chance to learn more about that subject.

It is hard to think of anything else while in a deep depression. I was coloring in intricate adult coloring books, painting rocks, writing in a journal, and talking to close friends. The activities held my attention for a little while, but the depression was still on my mind.
