It sounds like you are going somewhere familiar with people who are important to you. My guess is that you will be too busy being immersed in nature for panic to get a good hold.
good luck on your trip wish it was me.think of the positive aspects of the trip like you said being in nature that will help you through.even look up the area and visually see the beauty beforehand and that might make you feel less anxious about it.
i have lived in the woods much of my life.....i always carry a whisle around my neck and reserach the area before i go. ......can be purchased one dollar at walmart......the voice does not carry far in one needs help. Water and aspirin and high calorie food in backpack are the min ......carry yellow surveyor tape on a roll if to mark my trail if i leave the trail.......doesnt hurt the tree. if lost.....sit down and let authorites find u......
sure u know this but never hurts to be sensibly prepared and watdh the weather reports.....
