I'm really close to the edge. Life feels like there's more negatives than positives at the moment. I've really had enough. I've reached out to a few friends but there concern lasted 24 hrs. Not even the thought of leaving my kids is helping me. I'm such a mess and they deserve a better mother than me. I cant do this no more

I'm sorry you feel the way you do.

There are resources on this site to help you. You can always post here. Our brain has a negative bias. It's instinctual. We notice the bad quicker than the good. It's what has helped the human species survive and evolve. So it's not just you that does this. We all do. The brain can be trained to notice the good just as readily, but that takes time.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing. I am sorry your are struggling. Sounds like you are struggling with depression. Have you ever talked to your doctor or see a counselor about the way you are feeling? When I was diagnosed with depression I had similar thoughts and struggles. It took the right medication to get my chemicals balance in my brain and therapy to find strategies to cope. Often our chemicals go off due to hormones, as well as, dwelling on our negative thoughts.

I have really had to work on using several techniques to stop the negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Just to try to stop the thought is not enough. It is also important that you have a replacement for that negative thought. I used to be very hard on myself and not like me. But the more I reminded myself I am important and do matter and I have purpose. I began to believe it. Here are some techniques that work for me.

1) Healing comes from the inside out. It starts with letting go of the things of the past, forgiving and changing our focus and behavior. Becoming aware of what you need through self-care and personal nourishment. Take time for yourself - you are worth it. Like taking walks, baths, massages, mani/pedi/, listening to uplifting music/sermons and anything that makes you feel refreshed and renewed.

2) The 557 breathing technique is take 5 deep breaths in while thinking good thoughts about yourself like I matter, I am special, I am strong and then hold the breaths for the count of 7 focusing on those words about yourself, then let out the breath slowly for 5 seconds letting go of any anxious, self-defeating, unhealthy thoughts. I do this one to three times a sitting.

3)The gratitude journal is writing down something good every morning and night something that went well in the day, or something I appreciate about myself. Taking our focus off of the anxiety and depression and focusing on positive uplifting things really helps. What you think is what you believe. So thinking uplifting things you believe those things but the reverse is true - thinking negative self-defeating things, you will believe those.

4) Emotional Freedom Tapping - Look up the actual pressure points that you use, but you tap on those points while you repeat positive uplifting things to yourself.

I will be praying for you. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to chat. Hugs and God Bless

Hello,I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. I remember a long time ago when I was going through some depression in my life. Here are some thought-provoking questions that someone gave to me, to help me through. 1). You assume you know how your family and friends feel and see you as; but, truthfully how is your family going to feel if you do leave them? Sad, hurt, empty...? Have you thought about the hole you will leave in your children's hearts? -2). We all have the choice to choose to make a better us or a worse us, what are you going to choose? 3). Thinking about goals; what goals would you like to achieve and who would you like to achieve them with? 4). Now we need to make a plan on paper, what can you list for positives? What can you list for negatives- (be truthful and factual- NOT feeling-based)? Now, attitude and family come into play; Can you muster up the courage to ask your kids/ family what they see you need to work on for your attitude/ behavior? (Let them be your support and encouragement.- VERY IMPORTANT: take one baby step at a time!..
