May we each discover our own form of spiritual electricity — and light up our world.

I like the thought of spiritual electricity! ⚡️ So often I’m stuck with her cousin, static electricity 😀

This quote brings to mind an article I read about embracing our spirituality. Thank-you for posting it, 4Woody. As I have said many times, I am a work in progress, and I appreciate gentle nudges that help me to stay the course and keep the focus.

I found it interesting because I consider myself to be spiritual, although I wonder how having GAD makes this even possible, sometimes. To be spiritual we need to be here, present in the moment, something I have personally been working on through mindfulness and meditation.

A small excerpt from the article......

"Patients consumed by anxiety or dulled by depression have little scope to cultivate a spiritual path when they are under the sway of distorted thoughts endlessly being repeated over and over in their minds.

These thoughts are mistaken for facts. Spiritual development requires successive degrees of freedom based on the realization that thoughts are not facts but simply transient mental phenomena, as indeed are our emotions.

Increasing numbers of patients are discovering this through mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, which in bringing a person to the here-and-now creates the mental climate in which this deep spiritual insight can help relieve anxiety and depression."

sounds like you have found some very helpful tools here. Yay! It is wonderful when an individual finds the tool that works for them. We are all so unique. Mindfulness seems to be a key for many individuals including myself.

I have found very helpful tools here, this is true. This is the reason that I am so thankful for HU and it's caring members. Knowing that I am not alone is actually empowering, in that there is strength in numbers. No hiding, no shame, just support and friendship.
