Gardening to relieve Depression Symptoms

Ive long held the notion that gardening, " working soil" , is one of my favorite anti- depressant."Out of the head..Through the hands. Into the work"...

That, and there's clinical proof that there are things ( microorganisms) that actually act like endorphins and raise our mood levels.

It's also known, that kids who grow up and can more directly " get their hands dirty " have a lower incidence of depression and less discipline issues at school and home....

Time to get down and DIRTY!

what about theoretically "grown" kids, with disciplinary issues? ;-)

tho - i'm not sure i qualify as "grown"...

in reply to13ga

LOL..Leave it to you give that reply. Age, chronological or emotional, dosen't seem to matter.

What does matter is what you get out of the process.. It's the journey, not the destination.

You do look at home up on your tractor👍🙂

in reply toZazenRiver345

Thanks. That puts it nicely.. There's just something I can't describe about doing tractor work, that is soooooo satisfying and therapeutic.

Sounds like a meditative experience to me 👍

in reply toZazenRiver345

It is, believe me it is.. As a matter of fact it's the ONLY way I can actually "still my brain" long enough to actually meditate.... I would do this more often, but the tractor belongs to my neighbor. This is one of the many times he has called me and said.."Hey, it's time for some tractor therapy"... Just gotta love this community!😀👍🙏

ZazenRiver345 in reply to

Awesome to have friends like that around🙂. What kind of projects do you use the tractor for?

in reply toZazenRiver345

Yes it is.. We are a small and close community. We look out for and one another.. It's as close to a Norman Rockwell, Hallmark Studios type of community as you can get... LOL We/I use the tractor "Area Development" aka 'rock and soil moving', snow removal, road grading, hauling and moving heavy items.... so far....😉

We share tools etc as needed.. it all works out for us.
