Hi Gerrerd.. I just skimmed your intro. Well said! I too have been struggling with depression for well over fifty years. Add to that PTSD... I myself have found that a combination of supports is a good way to cope. For myself, the notion of being "cured" is not realistic. Being able to live and improve my quality of life is the challenge. It's been an up and down , success and failure journey for me. Two of my most relied on "go to" sources are the Tao Te Ching and the several book and writings of His Holiness The Dali Lama. It works for me.. It's not for everyone, but for me it helps. I like that you've come to this forum to help and encourage others in the same situation as yours. Thank you!

Thank you, the best therapy is helping others🤗

in reply to gerrerd

It can be. As long as we are aware of our feelings and goals. Many people get into volunteering and even the psych field to help others when they themselves need help and guidance. Which again, can benefit everyone. The problem for some is they in fact neglect themselves over time because the reward of being appreciated and helpful , replaces the real work that needs to done individually for themselves. That's why a lot of Clinicians in the field go into therapy while employed as a therapist.. So as not to loose sight of their goals.
