Hello all- happy to be a part of this group! I myself do not suffer from anxiety and depression, but my 10 year old son does. Looking for tips and tricks to help support him and help ease his worry.
My son is on meds for ADHD, Anx and Dep, but looking for non-medicine remedies that could help him.
Thanks

I have two here that have helped calm me. One is Dr. Hauschka's "Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil" and the other is an Essential Oil Blend called "Chill Pill" by the brand Aura Cacia.
I'm not an oil aficionado, but I do know that patchouli, lavender, rose and lemon can be calming. I have a friend who is well versed in oils. You can check her website at thedarlingoiler.com/. Outside of oils, maybe teach him my 5 to the 3rd power breathing technique: Breathe in through the nose while counting to 5, hold it for 5, and let it out slowly through the mouth for 5. It can slow his heart rate and thoughts. There's also an item I bought for my son who started exhibiting some anxiety. It's called Calm strips. You can put them on phones, laptops, notebooks, etc. It can be rubbed or scratched, kind of a quiet fidget tool. Prayers for wisdom and guidance.
I used music to help my son. Not only to listen but to play. Herbal teas like 7 blossoms. I also removed dairy because I noticed the bad behaviors got worst after drinking milk. Essential oil diffuser like Lavender helps too.
A lavender lotion or mist or spray is very calming for everyone. Also he's going to be very sensitive to things heard on the news. It might be wise for your husband to get headphones or earphones so the sound is blocked out. And watch a funny cartoon or movie together that makes him laugh, like the Smurf movies or Bruce Almighty, something like that.
