Does anyone else just always have this feeling that something bad is going to happen and you spend most of your days waiting? My anxiety has been really bad the last couple of days and I try to get rid of the thoughts but I feel like in a sense I’m manifesting it which then scares me more. I woke up this morning and the first thought in my head was “something bad is gonna happen” and I don’t like it.

Lately this has been happening to me a lot. I know how you feel. *hugs* The best way to deal with it is like Wounded_Soldier said just get up and do something. I prefer to keep it small. I start with unloading the dishwasher, make a cup of tea. Then decide what I want to do from there. So long as your mind is busy with menial tasks, it wont have time to design disaster scenarios.Feel better

What kinds of things do you do to keep your mind occupied? I’m curious because I need to occupy mine 😅
Literally anything that you enjoy doing. I personally like watching videos on YouTube, or playing games with my friends or by myself. Painting, drawing, writing etc... is good too!
Sometimes a label helps. This is “Catastrophizing.” We take “could happen” and turn it into “sure to happen.” And we underestimate our ability to cope, and skip right over every emotion but fear. Name them. “That would be really awful! That would be so unfair. I would have to sell my entire bobble head collection!”
And then continue with planning, even if it’s a bad plan. Writing helps, too. Getting specific and detailed, making lists, and writing are all ways of dragging the obsessive thought out of your quick-response, high-energy, fight, flight, or freeze brain.
For bonus points (mental health humor) try listing things that are more likely than what you are worrying about, which would really be changes or losses, but aren’t worrying you. A therapist did this for me once, and hit it on the first item. I literally wasn’t giving myself permission to grieve that, so the grief was finding other ways out.
I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had this feeling for a couple of days now and it’s not pretty. I guess you just have to keep yourself busy with other things and distract yourself so those thoughts don’t take over.
All the time!! Especially if ive been doing super good with my anxiety I’m always thinking well what’s going to happen next ... I’m also kinda scared for what 2021 will hold.
