I've done that many times. Sometimes I've gotten some very caring and understanding people on the other end of the line. Other times, not so great. Sometimes the people answering the calls are trained volunteers that really aren't getting paid anything. But if you're really feeling upset and thinking about suicide don't hesitate to give it a try. When you feel like you don't know who to talk to and you're in a lot of emotional pain, that's why that number is there.
My Wife is my carer and she phone up the Crisis Team as and when the need arises.

Yes, several months ago. They were very suppprtive and stayed on the phone with me until the ambulance arrived.
