Does anyone here have experience with facing termination from a job because you cannot work due to mental health issues? I’ve been on leave since March due to panic disorder. My work originally told me in 4 separate conversations I’d be covered for one year. Now they are claiming it’s only 6 months. And as you can guess I was not prepared for this and this past week has been horrible. My anxiety is so bad. Any advice?

Are you on medication or going to therapy? Just wondering because it’s helped me and I think it could help you too

Yes. If I wasn’t my work wouldn’t have approved my leave.
Hi, I would think you might have mentioned the work conversations to your therapist and/or doctor who should have documented this. Depending on where you are, there might be laws against discrimination on grounds of mental health and employment advisors / unions who could help with discussion about your current leave entitlement.
I would send something in writing with a request to reply within 14 days from the date of your letter or email.
I found myself in a similar situation and found that by copying a 3rd party into correspondence gets better results- a reply comes back sooner and the receiver knows they are being watched 🙂
