Hi, I've been taking citalopram since April this year. I changed to citalopram from fluoxetine as fluoxetine wasn't suiting me (not helping me at all). I started on 10mg citalopram due to changing antidepressants, increased to 20mg & I've been taking 40mg citalopram for about 6-7 weeks now. The problem I'm having is that I don't feel any benefit from the 49mg citalopram yet. I understand it takes about 4-6 weeks to start working but I've increased from 10mg to my current 40mg.
When will I start feeling any benefit from being on the maximum of 40mg or is it a case of the 40mg citalopram isn't suiting me?
Any advice please? Anyone been in the same or similar situation?
Thanks

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes I'm going to get in touch with my Doc to see what he says. I'm trying my best to stay positive but it's very hard at times.
Hi. I've been taking Citalopram for almost 20 years now. I too started with 10mg and eventually was taking 20mg for the long haul. I noticed it didn't seem to be working anymore so the Doc bumped it up to 40mg. I noticed no change from 20mg to 40mg at ALL. Anywhoo, it sounds like the Citalopram may not be the one for you! 6-7 weeks should be ample time. I'm sorry you are on such a medication roller coaster! I truly hope you find the right one for you.
