Mirtazapine and swelling

Has anyone had swollen feet and ankles taking this. I've been on it a while . She stopped also my Clonazepam and switched to Diazepam 3 weeks ago and it started the oedema about a week ago. Never done this before

Hi Basten, I am no doctor but I think any medication that causes swelling needs to be reviewed. You and the prescriber need to way up the benefits of the meds versus the side effects. There a few different drugs in each type of antidepressants that might be better for you. Just be sure to talk each through so that you can make an informed decision

Yes, tell your doctor about the medication. For the time being, you can try to reduce the swelling.

Aromatherapy massage is very good to keep blood circulation.

If they feel hot, you can soak your feet in cold water in a large container.

If you prefer ice, freeze a few small bottles of water, then press one on the area that feels hot. Keep swapping another bottle when the ice has melted.

You need to deal with the swelling when it is still manageable. Please don't ignore it.

Hi yes spoke to nurse today she said its not the meds as I've been on them a long time but it could be my blood pressure meds so I've got to reduce then for a week and take my blood pressure twice a day and shell ring me next week . Shes also arranged a blood test to check my sugar levels . Thankyou
