Pets for Coping

Hi all,

While I know this isn't a viable option for a lot of people, I've worked with shelters and rescues in the past. During these quarantine times, an animal can help a lot. Right now, shelters need fosters more than ever. My cat Nubbin probably saved my life when I was switching between several medications trying to find the right one. She started out as a foster that became my best friend. Here's a picture of her :) Contacting your local shelter or rescue could save more than one life.

Four of ours were born here 2nd and 3rd generation, but we have one rescue, who actually adopted us. I can't imagine my life without her now. I have always been a cat rescue person....and animals and laughter really are the best therapy.

Thank you for the info. I already have 2 cats, one born feral in my back garden in Calif. I had another stray who adopted me "Oliver", he was unbelievable and I loved him so much, he had a severe stoke when he was about 7 or 8, I had to let him go. I still have him, I wrapped him in a favorite blanket, wrote him a letter of love and thanks, put him in a case, tapped it shut and buried him in a spot he used to love to lie in. So I was down to my feral, then 3 years later, someone dropped of a kitten on my deck, I fell in love with her and adopted her. She is 5 now. There is an orange cat that comes around, we call him Morris, he is feral, but he shows up usually once a day asking for food. I'd love to adopt him, but he won't let me touch him. I would have more cats if I could, but I am almost 78 living on SS, cannot really afford another one. I make a monthly donation to Alley Cat Rescue, they provide Trap Neuter Return for the feral's. and do their best to keep cats out of shelters. We need to love and protect our cats, they are the No. 1 leading pet in USA. I wish you well, hope people read this post and consider donating to Alley Cat Rescue, SaveACat.org. They are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Thank you for the lovely photo, sending love n hugs....Sprinkle 1.....
