Food for thought

I know people are trying to be helpful and I understand that which is beautiful but seeing a psychiatrist and/therapist is NOT free services. It is VERY expensive and not everyone have insurance or the funds to go because most of us come here as a free and open space to have a voice and I said most not all so if you don’t fall in that category then this isn’t for you and I am not trying to be hostile I am just noticing that a lot and we all are aware of how self help services are hard to obtain when most of us have 9 to 5 jobs that barely help us get by for bills.

Thank you for pointing that out.

Hi Bray, you are so correct that mental health is costly. The cost certainly depends largely which country you reside in. For instance in Australia you are entitled to have your primary care provider develop a care plan which gives you up to 10 visits per year under government medicare plan. The provider may charge a gap fee but most of the cost is covered. The best alternative is to attend a university clinic where you can see a student mental health provider under supervision. I realise I am fortunate to have this safety net. One of the options to find an opening for an appointment is to contact your local member of parliament's office. The office can usually call a government clinic ahead of a visit by you. What we need to promote above anything else is encouraging our fellow sufferers in seeking help to cope/recover in any form that meets our needs. Some people are starting out on the journey while others have been travelling for a while and learned a lot on the way. No matter what we are here for each other 🐱

This is only the case in countries with no universal healthcare system like the USA. We have the NHS in the UK so we can access free healthcare. There aren't only Americans on this site. Also if people don't say what country they are in how are we to know what advice to give?

Just checked your bio and you haven't listed your country.
