I am on 2nd night of sertraline, 25mg to start, first night gave me cold sweats, blurred vision, last night gave me a major list of heart attack symptoms, clenched jaw, palpatations, sweat+both arms ached. I'm waiting to hear back from Dr, but is it likely I had a panic attack? Please help.

25 mg is very low dose. Yes most likely you were anxious about taking something "unknown" to your system ie the new medication. Yes most likely it was anxiety. I am on setraline . The first 3 weeks are rough with some side effects and in my case even worse depression. Hang on in there. It will get better. Gemmalouise x

PS Always best to check with the person prescribing however as a very very low number of people do get longterm averse responses to these meds and if you feel something isn't right it's always best to check with a professional if only just to put your mind at rest.

Thanks for advice, I hated the way it made me feel and for now I snapped out my anxiety long enough to realise I want to hold off taking meds until I've tried diet, exercise and counselling. I thought meds was the only way as I was desperate. Having my heart pounding out my chest worse than I've ever had with my anxiety on meds has made me do some soul searching. I'm still anxious and down and scared but compared to how I reacted to meds, for now I can deal with it. I may try another med later on if this route doesn't work but for now, for me it's a scary path I don't want to go down.

Hi - that’s a low dose, but yes maybe you will feel worse for a few days or so, I certainly did (75mg), but please try and stick with it as things and symptoms will get easier for you I’m sure, but of course please contact your GP if you need reassurance. I wish you luck.
