Dissociation?

I have feelings of dissociation or unreality or detachment from myself for last few weeks. I am afraid due to this constant feeling. I also get confused, unable to think or concentrate on anything. I don't know how to cope. Anybody has same feelings, need help or advice. Any specific treatment that works for this condition?

Yes.

I think it is rather normal. I have felt really strong dissocion when I had anxiety and woke up mid-night. Man was it freaky, felt like I feel unreal in my own house. I drank water and felt weird etc. felt like being in a movie about yourself from first perspective + anxiety. And it did not go away until I walked around for some time outside.

Of course I jumped to dumb conclusions I am mentally ill (like schizophrenia).. but now that I have had my anxieties, and have been non-depressed for some time and anxieties are rare, I actually can see I was worried for nothing (yeah, tell that to yourself when you feel like you are in an artificial world).

Try to somehow coupe with it. It's easier said than done, but just trust me (at least. I am a knight ferret as you can see. you can trust me lmao) that you are ok, and you will be allright.

And that alone will MAJORLY reduce your spiral of anxiety that only makes very weak confusion much worse.

To combat bad feelings I usually did something concentrated and calm - lie reading an light-hearted book. Videos are not good in my opinion, though it tempting to watch. Doing something familiar, something you feel has value in your life - like painting or tinkering with some mechanisms probably is similar. I also enjoy videogames, or some sort of exercises (for me weightlifting feels calm. Team sports are cool, but they are not calm at all).

A psychiatrist can help you with medication management.

I can struggle with same when really anxious, a therapist I spoke to about it taught me some grounding techniques,

One was ,If at home sit in a chair and feel the texture of the chair , the arms etc...here are a few more ...

grounding techniques

breath slowly.

listening to sounds around you.

walking barefoot.

wrapping yourself in a blanket and feeling it around you.

touching something or sniffing something with a strong smell. Perhaps for the smell you could carry something in your bag if outside..

I guess we learn through trial and error what works for us best..

Also perhaps speak to doc about some CBT therapy or self refer online with NHS , if your in uk

Best wishes
