Anyone ever have night jerks?

This usually happens when I'm under stress, but my body will jerk itself awake at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. Really annoying and it takes a long time to fall asleep. I do take a night time med that helps with sleep, but even that sometimes doesn't help. Just wondering if anyone else has this, and if you can do anything about it. Thanks

It's pretty common, I believe it has something to do with entering a deeper level of sleep.

Don't let it bother you, it will go away on it's own. At least it does for most people, it seems to return in times of stress or unusual tiredness, but it will fade.

They are called Hypnogogic or aka as hypnick jerks. They are normal. If you are actually having them in your sleep or restless legs this is something more serious, should see a sleep doctor about it.

I read a study online where a case reported escitalopram caused them. But usually high caffeine intake, physical, and emotional stress can increase their frequency. I’d monitor what I do in the day that might clue you in on why.
