Zoning out

I got depressed from a midlife crisis, my brother having problems, a woman I dated who basically told me to get my life together. I go into my own head and check out. I get tired and my breathing gets slower. I’ve gotten better 60% of the time during the day. Yesterday I was fine and felt great then suddenly I felt a sudden drop of my energy and went into my head.

I know those days all to well. I live my life too much inside my own head, tends to make me a major Loner. Still the idea is life should be better than that. I don't think that woman you were dating should have been such a stone cold Bleep Bleep. No one is perfect and she had no class being so rude, and so selfish not recognizing your struggles. It's good to come here to be seen as a person with mental health struggles that have you down but not out for the count. Yeah you feel bad but this site with it's many different people know how you feel. Here you can find someone that will listen and maybe push back the tide. You aren't alone. We are real people, like you. You can feel bad and still get support here. Anything you'd like to ask or just talk about. I'm Listening right now.

Thanks! What do you do when you’re burnt out and overwhelmed with life. I just hide in my room and rest. I get plenty of rest, eat right, and exercise.

There are quite a few things to do. Most of these things are normally taught by instructors you are referred to by therapist. DBT refers to dialectical behavioral therapy. It’s an approach to therapy that can help you learn to cope with difficult emotions. DBT originated from the work of psychologist Marsha Linehan, who worked with people living with borderline personality disorder (BPD) or ongoing thoughts of suicide. Today, it’s still used to treat BPD as well as a range of other conditions, including: eating disorders, depression, self harming, substance use disorders, etc. There are a lot of exercises you can use alone and/or with others to change negativity to positive thinking. I originally thought it was vodoo myself, but found there was reasoning behind the treatment. You can look up the information or inquire with your mental health care providers assuming you have them. There is a lot of stuff to learn which is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. The thing is practicing almost like exercising. You learn to apply the tools and skills to your real life situations. I know this is sorta vague but it's best if you read about it. Even better if you can get a health care provider refer you to workshops on this. You are actually doing one of the exercises by talking to others on this site. Talking and interacting with others to work toward better mental health. Hopefully you haven't fallen asleep reading this, but really it does help. Feel free to private message me if you want to talk about this or anything else.

Oh by the way Happy Holidays. I'm in California, U.S.A. Not sure where you are. I've been awake a long time cooking with family and eating. Right now just finished the clean up and it's 1 am. I'm going to bed. Like I said feel free to chat me up any time via private messaging.
