What treatments have helped you get out of bed and move on with your day?

Im currently struggling with functioning on a daily basis. I can't seem to get out of bed and do the basics in life. I live by myself and don't have a support system. I find it very difficult to do anything with my life and I'm just 34. No family at all to help support or motivate me. I'm on antidepressants and anxiety medication. I struggle with chronic back pain and can't seem to even get motivated to do physical therapy to help.

Could you get a cat ? You would have to let it out and feed it and it could be good company ?

Hello Sry

You’ve been struggling for a long time. Your first post was 2 years ago.

Have you talked with a Doctor, been prescribed medication or referred to a therapist? If not, it’s probably time.

This might sound daft but something that helped me get going again was to make a list of 6 relatively simple things to do. Number them in any order. Get a dice. Throw the dice and do the thing written next to that number. I always felt compelled to do it.

Hopefully for you, the dice will land on: get up and make a cuppa. Enjoy. 😉

I should have read your post properly. You are taking medication.

Ok chronic back pain. There are some amazingly simple exercises on the internet to save you going out for physical therapy if you don’t want to for a bit. The one that helped me...stopped my muscles spasmasing to painfully protect my back... was to lie flat on floor knees bent and slowly lower knees towards floor a few times from one side to the other to stretch the muscles gently.

Chronic pain makes it so difficult to get motivated to do much. Build on what you can do, don’t focus on what you don’t feel able to at the moment.

Your meds give you a safe space, mentally, to get going again. You got to take the first few steps.

1.Cuppa.

2.Shower.

3.Dress.

4.Few minutes of stretches.

5.Go out to shops. Buy dice. Visit Pet shop?

6.Free choice

"Once upon a time

Before I took up smiling

I hated the moonlight.

Spirit of the night

That poets find beguiling

Seemed flat as the noonlight.

"Once I awoke at seven

Hating the morning light.

Now I awake in Heaven

And all the world's alright.

"Blue moon

You saw me standing alone

Without a dream in my heart

Without a love of my own.

"Blue moon

You knew just what I was there for

You heard me saying a prayer for

Someone I really could care for.

"And then there suddenly appeared before me

The only one my arms will ever hold.

A voice whispered 'Please adore me!'

And when I looked

The moon had turned to gold.

"Blue moon

Now I'm no longer alone

Without a dream in my heart

Without a love of my own!"
