Hey all,
I am debating going on medication for my depression. I’m curious to know, what have your experiences been with taking antidepressants? If you don’t mind sharing, how long have you been on them and has it helped you significantly?
Hey all,

I’ve been on different SSRI antidepressants for about 30 years, and have had good luck with them.
I've been on SSRI medications for a few months, I use prozac and it's been helping a little. If you don't want to go through the hassle of trial and error with medication, get some gene testing done. Bring it up with your psychiatrist so you can figure out which medication works best for your body chemistry. I did it, and it's been working out so far. Be sure to give them some time, though, because they can take a while to start working.
Make sure that if you notice any side effects that are dangerous, bring them up immediately. I used to take lexapro, but I ended up using them in a suicide attempt. It could have been avoided if I had been more commutative with my doctors.
