Hi
I have put on Venlafaxine modified-release tablets by my GP as my current Venlafaxine tablets aren't working for me.
Does anyone know the difference between Venlafaxine tablets and the modified release?
Many thanks
Hi

My understanding is that the "regular" tablets you have to take twice a day, and have a short(er) half life - meaning the active ingredient is released in one go. The modified release tablets are made so that the active ingredient is released at a slower rate throughout the day and so the effects last longer meaning you only have to take one dose daily.
However, I am not a qualified physician! This is just my understanding (I'm on the Modified Release tablets and my Dr briefly described the difference to me). Good luck!
Thanks. I was on the tablets where you take them twice a day and my GP mention did mention the differences, but I forgot lol.
How are you coping on these as my GP has agreed to start me on them in which i epuld need to take twice a day. I sm nervous when trying medication. I am on Imipramine which is an older anti depressants and one of tbe first to be made. However they appeared to start effecting my heart rate and blood pressure and since decreasing them i have improved bmp. I have read the feed back on venlafaxine and thete ate pros and cons.
