My doc decided to take me off venlafaxine 37ng x 2 a day after 22 years of being on them and she’s put me on citalopram 10mg to start with I’m surprised I’ve not had any major problems with the withdrawal of venlafaxine as I had in the past when trying to take me off them but seems to be working fine at the minute except I just been woke up by extremely strong pain in my shoulder and arm (left) so panicked thinking it’s heart related as I suffer really badly from health anxiety it’s probably nothing but feeling a tad anxious do you reckon this could be because of the switch in medication
Has anyone ever came off venlafaxine before
Thanks in advance
Nat

hello. I’ve been on venlafaxine for 30 years. Mainly because I’d rather just not feel the withdrawal so I’m sooo happy to hear you’re not feeling much!!! I’ve never experienced it but have heard that joint pain could be related to the withdrawal. I wouldn’t rule it out as being related because you can feel some crazy stuff coming off it. I wish you the best of luck coming off of it!! Please keep us posted!!
I will keep you posted this is the fourth time I’ve been asked to come off them and I’ve not done too bad I was thinking maybe this is a withdrawal effect but last time I tried wow the side effects were horrendous
I ended up in A+E in the end luckily it’s not heart related but stress related and the side effects from weening off venlafaxine
hi Nat i have been on venlafaxine a number of times in the past and have found that if i stop taking it, its hard to avoid those withdrawal brain zaps, but as you have done, if you just switch to another medication instead, then you avoid the brain zaps
I don’t understand why my gp took me off them though all she said was she don’t like venlafaxine but I said well my body does been on them 22 years but she was adamant so I’m still none the wiser
