Anxiety is the worst

Can't get hold of my anxiety. Was in the hospital 10 days and they put me on new meds. I feel like they help but I need more. I was in the hospital last November. I have BPH and the medicine is not taking care of it like I had hoped. My urologist is telling me that the medicines aren't going to do the trick. I need to have surgery but truth be told I'm scared to do it. It's the going under anhestesia that frightens me. With my new medicine I was trying to get up the courage to do the surgery. Unfortunatley I got myself so worked up this week by this morning I couldn't do it. That plus ,my BP rose. I told the doctor today I really want to do the surgery and get back to normal but my brain just won't allow it. I need to get with my family doctor and get stronger meds for my anxiety

When you see your doctor, tell him/her your fears of surgery. Maybe the doc can reassure you that there's nothing to worry about. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of surgery would be done for an enlarged prostate? What exactly would they do?

When you talk to your doctor see if they would recommend either Xanax or Adivan for the day of the surgery. It will calm you down and could make that day a lot easier. It is not something you want to take all the time but if used as directed it can really help. I myself need to talk to my doctor because I feel the new meds he has me on are just not working enough. Go to a Psych to get the correct meds for your situation. The family Dr. is not trained in all parts of brain reactions.
