I was treated for depression and anxiety by an incredible PharmaPsychiatrist for years. Sadly, he died unexpectedly about 9 years ago. I tried to find another doctor, but couldn't. My primary care doctor was treating me with Lexapro and Clonazapam for episoded of extreme anxiety. Maybe 3 pills a month and then I could go months without it. The nurse practictioner who took over for my PC doctor will only give me five Clonazapam pills at a time every 3 out 4 months. I am moving across country in 2 months and at times get very anxious about the move and the current political situation in the country.
Is there a better combined antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication? What should I do?

Hi. Yes there are many different medications out there that treat anxiety. Im not sure why theyd give you Lexapro for only a few months. It sounds dangerous considering the withdrawals. Make an appt with a new psychiatrist. Also, be your own advocate. When you go to your 1st appt ask questions. Read up on the medications that are out there-a simple Google search will lead to answers.
I've been on Lexapro for some time now. It takes care of depression and, normal anxiety. It's the Clonazapam that I was being given in addition to the Lexapro to hande extreme anxiety issues that I am having problems getting from the Nurse Practictioner. I am moving across country and am highly anxious. I don't have a new psychiatrist and I'm moving in mid May. I don't want to be an anxious wreck when I move across country and have my grandsons see me Iike that.
