Hi All! 2 more days left of this taper. This morning was horrible! But eventually I was able to get it together today. I barely slept last night. I am down to .25mg a day . After I’m done the taper, I’m considering CBD oil. I’ve also learned that all they symptoms aren’t withdrawal, but paradoxical effects. It really messed with your head. I’m still fighting and when I’m done I will NEVER touch Ativan or anything like it again.

How much were you taking daily before taper?

.25 twice a day, but only for 3 weeks. I became dependent really quickly.

Fortunate you stopped as soon as you did,, and having taken a minimal dosage. You'll be fine and dandy in no time. How much longer are you going to taper?

I have 2 more days. Then I’m going to start CBD. Today I split half in the morning and night. Ativan makes me so emotional about and I was having interdose withdrawal. It was driving me insane. I had to do something to fix it. Now I’m getting cognitive therapy

Good for you getting off benzo. If you can get by without it you'll be better off. I tried to get off after long term use and was unsuccessful, although I was able to reduce dosage by 2/3. Some people cannot get by without it.

I understand that. I thank God that I only used them for 3 weeks, then I went straight to my doctor and said “this has to go!” She wrote a 10 day taper and here I am. It’s by no means easy. I’m crying everyday. My mind races in the mornings. It’s crazy. I have heard long term users usually have to go to detox. I’ve wanted to give up. My family pushed me through.

Did you find the. Ativan to be effective?

Jloava profile image
Jloava in reply toChicagoGirl1961

No... it had the opposite effect on me. I was have more anxiety attacks. I couldn’t think or remember anything and I was scared of everything. I thought some symptoms were withdrawal and and ER nurse told me they weren’t, it was paridoxical effects. I was having racing thoughts. All kinds of things. I had to fix it. I have children to live for.

Well, good luck to you. And no worries for you about the Ativan...it may take a week or two more and then you'll be good as new. Be well
