I think my kitten was taken away from her mother too early . I got her when she was 8.5 wks and cannot sit down even for 5mins without her sucking my ears or wrist. Making me feel uneasy. Might have to give her back to her previous owner/breeder.

6 to 8 weeks is the age to be taken from the mother but preferably 8 weeks. So it's not that. I had a cat that liked to snuggle on my lap and suck my jumper!

If this is making you feel uneasy and you do want to rehome her, if in UK you could try the Blue Cross Homes.

Have you phoned a vet? Is the kitten eating well?

Yes very well. She is a Turkish Van Cat. If the owner collects give or take the bad weather then I will leave it to her about neutering.

These cats can eat more than ordinary moggies and can weigh 5kg. An adult can. She is atheletic and manic with her playful being a little too much and I have to be careful of her clawing at me!!

Sorry for any misunderstanding, - but neutering ? I didn't say anything about neutering! She's far too young, certainly not!

What I meant was, have you phoned your Vet for advice about this behaviour?

Kittens can be extremely playful. The ginger tabby who sucked my jumper was the first cat we rescued/adopted. The second cat was a little black cat who remained playful and manic till old age!

Sounds like a good idea to have the previous owner, the breeder, to collect her. x

My wee cat did that, I found her 15years ago abandoned before she was five weeks old. She used to suck buttons on clothes etc... She matured and I got one of those plug in pheromone things from the vet, it calms their anxiety.

I lost her two months ago, she is in the garden now close to me. I am still grieving for her. I would give anything to hold her again and she could have all the buttons she wanted.

She'll grow out of it. She's s just at the age of growing from a kitten to an adolescent. She'll still be needy but as long as you don't encourage her habits then she'll soon stop. Give her boundaries. Look on line for ways to help a kitten grow in a healthy way as far as how they should be interacting with humans (no boting, using claws, etc for play). You may even be able to find a trainer for her if necessary but it sounds like normal behavior.

I have an adult male cat that likes to drag microfiber blankets, towels, socks, etc. around the house and suck and knead on them, then meow loudly. With him, I'm pretty sure it's a mating behavior (even though he's neutered).

My kitten of 8 weeks exhibited the same behaviour. They eventually grow out of it. I hope you decide to keep her.
