Greetings all,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. It’s the end of the year and my time to reflect.
Overall 2018 was okay. I finally got my depression meds balanced so that is a relief.
What I mostly would like to share is about “The Holidays.” I’m not into them at all. It’s not that I’m a humbug or anything like that. Quite the contrary.
By society’s terms, the Holidays are supposed to be “happy” for everyone on Earth. Yeah, right. I know for a fact this is a very difficult time of the year for many people. My heart goes out to those that struggle with this time of the year. As for those that are synthetically happy this time of the year, I kindly ignore.
A few years ago, I was at a work meeting where they played a game, “What are you going to do for Christmas?” Mostly everyone gave the typical answers: open gifts, sing Christmas Carols, be with my loving family, and so on. I was dreading this especially when my turn was coming up. Then I got asked, “What are you going to do for Christmas?” I answered, “Sleep.” The whole room froze. Then I get, “Don’t you like the Holidays?” And I answered, “It’s not about liking the Holidays or not. But I want to be Happy when I choose to be and not when everyone else dictates I should be. I’ve nothing against the Holidays. I’m just not into them. No animosity whatsoever. My most “Wonderful Time of The Year” is when I’m truly happy.” They really didn’t get what I was saying. But I felt great that I maturely spoke my piece.
The moral of my story, is I own my happiness and choose when I want to be happy.
