There are some good tips here : ecenglish.com/en/101-ways-t...

A lot depends on your situation.

Are you trying to learn/improve your English whilst you’re in an English speaking country or are you living in a country where English isn’t the native language?

Is it just reading where you struggle with the vocabulary or is it in listening, written and spoken too?

English is my first language but when I was learning French as a second language (whilst in England) I found the following helpful :

- read book aimed at children to begin with

- watch a tv show / video aimed at children

- watch a drama video with subtitles on in your first language (go back over phrases to help pick up the meaning)

- try poetry rather than a novel or textbook

- listen to a radio station

- Take a class in the language or join a forum dedicated to learning the language

- Join (or start) a conversation group for the language you want to learn

I wish you well with your ambition to read a book in a language that isn’t your first language.
