Generation Gap.
O, what a skirt with frills can do
To cheer me up when I am blue!
A coloured creation off the peg
Softly caressing my lower leg.
“Mutton as lamb,” I hear her say.
“Come on now, girl. You’ve had your day.
Better to dress in plainer style,
You’ve not been twenty for a while.”
“Go suck a lemon,” is my retort.
“Your’re only jealous. I know your sort.
Young or old, it doesn’t matter,
You’re over weight and getting fatter.
Lose the weight and then you can shout
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Look in the mirror and start that diet.
Until then, I suggest you keep quiet!
I may be old but I’ve learned one thing.
A heart that is young is a true blessing
It means I can wear whatever I like
So close your mouth and take a long hike.”
Myra--forever young at heart.
