pain in the neck
Hi rainbow121, I have neck pain every day including right at this moment. My neck muscles are so intensely tight that I can't stand a scarf around my neck in the winter, wearing a turtleneck is not comfortable, looking up or looking down for too long gives me pain. This has all stemmed from a car accident I was in years ago which was exacerbated
by my anxiety. I hold all the tension from stress in my neck by jutting it forward when I am anxious.
Check how you hold your neck throughout the day? I think you may find that a postural issue is making it worse. I sleep with a Kawasaki bean filled pillow that I can mold around
my neck during the night. I use a microwavable neck and shoulder wrap to loosen the muscles. I use to have physical therapy to release the numerous trigger points in the upper shoulders that give referred pain to the neck area. Because of the accident, I do have disc problems which add to the problem. (sometimes arthritis can be the cause)
I hope you find some answers through others having the same issues as well as seeing your doctor. For me, medication is not the way to go. Wish you well. xx
thank you sorry to hear your in pain too
i find a scarf help as it releases the feeling of heaviness i will look into a neck and shoulder wrap. all the docters seem to want to do is throw pain killers at me which i wont take as they are addictive its the twitching that worries me take care x
When the neck muscles get into a real spasm, it will cause some burning as well as twitching. So far, it's only happened in the car but it could be embarrassing. It shows you how over stimulated our muscles are including our over sensitized nervous system.
Oh...I wanted to tell you before you run out an purchase a shoulder wrap, I just took a hot bath towel out of the dryer and have that wrapped around me right now. It's free
and provides the same relaxing relief.
Pain medication on occasion may be okay, I use OTC Tylenol once in a while but I know that's not the answer. Mostly I treat it with heat. xx
Voltorol,diclofenac gel,helps neck spasms I find .
Yes I get this pretty bad at times as well!! I see a chiropractor when I can for it and does help, also have an electro stym/tens unit I think it’s called helped a littl and I use neck massager helps a lot! And arnica gel or muscle rubs with soothing oils also try magnesium powder helps relax muscles tightness a good neck pillow and if it’s extra bad I ice it for 10-15 mins rest then try heat for few mins. Hope these can help you ☺️🌼💞i know it’s awful to have I get this and headaches do to tension anxiety and all!
