Well to my way of thinking if you didn't laugh at life you would end up crying! It's much better to laugh than cry :) x

I am grateful for you, Starrlight. Though I do try to reach out on these forums, I often end up feeling more alienated, or worse. But you always have a kind and caring word for my posts, and for that, I am grateful.

Hi mrmonk! How ya doing? love & hugs!!!

Hiya anxiety_59! I'm hanging in there, pretty nauseous this morning...I was supposed to get a gastric emptying study done today because my doctor thinks I might have gastroparesis. But I backed out -- I've had so many CT scans in the past couple of years, I was concerned about having a radioactive substance sitting in my stomach for hours on end. And I was reading that there is an alternative breath test for gastroparesis that doesn't involve radiation, so I'm going to ask my doctor about it. How are you?

I'm in shock right now. My 28 year old daughter was diagnosed with it a few months back. She went from 145 lbs. to 100 lbs. She did a weigh in at the beginning of this month & has put 2 lbs. on. Man I really feel for you, such a challenge. Have you changed your diet? Please keep in touch with me, we have something in common! Love, joy, peace & hugs!!!

mrmonk profile image
mrmonkβ€’ in reply to

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is going through this, too. So far, in the space of a couple of months, I've dropped from 128 lbs. to 116 lbs. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I'm afraid of what I'll find when I do. I drink two bottles of Ensure Plus per day, but that has been a staple of my diet for more than a decade, anyway. What has changed, though, is that I barely eat solids anymore, and can only eat small portions at a sitting. Certain foods sit in my stomach longer than others, but most everything makes me feel bloated and nauseous throughout the day. Compounding the problem is that I have emetophobia, a fear of vomiting, so, it is indeed quite a challenge.

How did your daughter come by her diagnosis? Did she have the gastric emptying study done? Has her doctor prescribed any medication to treat it? Does she have a special diet? I'm sorry for the many questions, but I don't know anyone else who has had some experience with this condition. Please feel free to send me a private message to talk further. I will keep you and your daughter in my thoughts, and you have my sincerest hope for her full recovery.

πŸ˜† I am so happy. I am grateful for you, too. I was just thinking that you are true, authentic and solid in who you are as I see you and as a friend, with great depth and strength. I appriciate you. You know I get feeling the same way sometimes, alienated. And I’m a sensitive person so yeah if I get triggered... it’s worse. Thanks for appreciating me.

Thank you, Starrlight. Sometimes things can seem so dark here; your luminescence is a reminder we're not really lost, just pausing to find our direction again.

Oh I love your words; very beautiful.

Love your post my friend! Sounds like things are going well.

I'm grateful for mental clarity and peace of mind.

Delta! Things ARE going well! Most of the time. I’m up and down a lot. I have quite an imagination so I have to watch my thoughts and laugh at them and push on and away because I don’t want to take them too seriously and give them power. But lately my memory is getting no so good and my mom is suffering from Alzheimer’s so I worry I may be getting it. I will be only age 42 Sept. 1st. Well any way you are grateful for two important things so glad you have them. You deserve all goodness my friend!

β€’ in reply toStarrlight

Your light is very bright, Starr :)

Don't worry so much. Lets be proactive in terms of Alzheimer's. Yeah, I'm turning into sort of a health nut. Gotta keep the mind healthy too, especially since we are already struggling with mental health issues.

Starrlight profile image
Starrlightβ€’ in reply to

Yeah I am a health nut too. Taking a supplement called Restore for one thing. I take vitamins like Ginko Biloba fish oil etc and make sure I read a ton. What are you doing to be proactive? I’m curious. It gives peace of mind to take action to hopefully prevent but in the end our fate is just that, what was meant to be for us all along is how I think of it. So then I give my trust to God.

β€’ in reply toStarrlight

I agree that some things are just meant to be. Totally agree!

However, I am back into strength training at a rate that increases my heart rate because I hate real cardio :) . I'm just trying to reach a more healthy weight and the real challenge for me is maintenance. I am doing Mediterranean diet without the fruit and grains because I'm following keto diet protocols for now. I'm trying to challenge myself mentally and trying to learn as much as possible.

After that, que sera sera, whatever will be, will be . :)

Starrlightβ€’ in reply to

I hope that dieting works for you. I’m on a gluten free and now meat free diet except for fish. I have been eating a lot of vegetables and a lot of ice cream πŸ˜‚ Iiiicccceee creeeaaam I can’t seem to stop. I’m still somehow at a good weight though. So mentally I think I should challenge myself more with maybe puzzles of some sort.

Got be grateful for the little things we take for granted.

Starrlight profile image
Starrlightβ€’ in reply to

Yes. So many little things we do take for granted. The books we read, the intricate eyes we see with, our senses including the sixth sense; we really are so complex and capable plus just imagine if there are more stars than grains of sand what is out there, we are living in an amazing universe. I feel so small sometimes.

β€’ in reply toStarrlight

Yeah we are a speck of dust in the cosmos.
