Star Trek Online: Do you have any messages for those who have experienced bullying firsthand?

Chase Masterson: First off, I want to say to you and anyone else out there, if you were ever bullied, it was never your fault, ever. Not a bit of it. It’s true and it’s really very important to always keep that in mind. Quite frankly, bullying always comes out of the pain of the other person. The minute you see someone being mean to someone else, you know it’s because of fear and insecurity. They need some momentary feeling of power but it’s not real power. Compassion and empathy is power. That’s where our real capabilities to be human come in.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Anytime. I was bullied too throughout most of my school years. If you feel someone needs to hear this, pass it on. You never know who it might help :)

Bullying, only a coward would do such. To all those that have been bullied ...I am so sorry that you went through that. My spouse endured it also, so he too has social anxiety, insecurity issues etc it's been a challenge . But progressing , one day at a time. That's all one can do. So to those that have been hurt like this...HUGS!!!!

Hugs!

Thanks Jackie! :) You're a special friend :)

Brian, what would you suggest if those that have children and their children were getting bullied. What is one to do? My daughter had an incident last year and I took care of that but it was nothing extreme ,now it's the middle & high school years that worry me. Can anyone that has been through this, what would you suggest? Thank you. Preparing myself.

The important thing is to let your child know you're there for them and it's ok to open up about. Let them know they're not alone. Sadly, you can't be in school to protect them. But you can give them the ammunition to fight back! Help keep their spirit up and let them know it's not their fault. That the other person is just lashing out because of something going in their life. Remind them that is ok to stand up for themselves. No one will think any less of them for it. They may even make a friend or too in the process :) And if they see someone being bullied, then don't be afraid to help that person out.

Random acts of kindness..........sometimes they can make all the difference!

Brian :)
