Knitting

Do any of you knit to help with anxiety? I read a study that said it could help. I really need to find a consistent way to get out of my own head for awhile. Long term I use meditation but when I am feeling this back and forth I just need a plain old distraction!

knitting is an awesome thing to do....our oldest here started that and now everyone has a scarf..or two....and needle pint is out of the question for me....too pokey...tried it and was bandaded for a week. But it was very relaxing. (when I didn't poke my finger )

Haaaa!..I'm very happy your gonna do this, I think its the best, if you will, positive reinforcement. By the way, our girl did all her practice on some of the stuff she found on sale, and then got into the groove and now has all kinds of cool stuff inter woven in her creations.....scarf's of course.....well....if it works for her, don't fix it....she's doing the one thing she likes to do...and that's scarf's.

Knitting is easy and fun. I learned by watching youtube videos. Once you get into knitting you should try spinning.. so meditative and zen.. that is for later. Look at thrift stores for yarn.. it is sad but many folks die and their yarn stash goes to the thrift store. Also once you get into it join a weaving guild.. it can also be a good source of yarn. I have found that yarn.com has good prices on sale yarns.. When I started knitting I knitted stuffed toys and yarn.com was my go to place for yarn on sale. Also if you like Lambs Pride or Brown Sheep yarn... I have a web site that sells their wool yarn for a good price... Have fun!

great prices on lambs pride yarns. thesheepshedstudio.com/Lamb... - these are super for stuffed toys.. hats.. etc. She is not the fastest shipper but at her prices I do not mind waiting. Her shipping prices are kind of high so wait until you need to buy a lot of yarn.

It sounds like you have many talents!! I can’t wait to get started. I picked up some basic supplies this afternoon. I really hope it helps to manage my anxiety but it’s something I’ve always wanted to learn to do. I’m probably going to be reaching out in the near future for help!! 😉
