Tried so hard yesterday

To up my calorie intake. About twenty years ago I developed lactose intolerance and now wonder if after only a week's course of antibiotics it has come back.

Yesterday's added calories with three small bowls of porridge throughout the day and even a Snickers bar lead to terrible gas and diarrhoea. I am even suspecting the cubes of hard cheese I nibbled on as when I had cheese before with salad it had the same effect, but I was thinking it was the salad.

Anyway the consequence of all this is not only does the struggle to eat remains but I need to up my calories as I am jittery and shaky and literally never slept at all last night. All my confidence has been lost.

I know I have to express acceptance but this is feeling so much like a losing battle. I don't want to go on like this but can see no end in sight.

Sorry for my negativity.

Thanks for reading.

Is it possible for you to see a nutritionist or someone who could help you with your diet? There are all different kinds of health shakes. Maybe that can help. Antibiotics can sometimes mess up the stomach. How about probiotics?

Thank you for your reply. Years ago I had a slight lactose intolerance. I am thinking this might Ave returned after lactate enzymes were indeed destroyed by the antibiotic. Still nervous about eating and trying to eat up what is in the cupboards but even after one day noticed a huge difference. No more gas or churning. Not sure whether the nausea us anxiety but can according to the Internet be a sign of lactose intolerance too.

Really nervous about today and seeing if it was all just a fluke.

Thank you for taking time to reply
