My husband was taking 20mg but this has just been increased to 40mg following a bereavement. How long does it take before he will feel any benefit please?

Hi, it normally takes about 6 weeks to take effect.

However, he also needs to stay away from substances that increases depression such as alcohol and drugs.

There are many other things he can do to help - so feel free to tell us more about his situation and we can respond appropriately.

I am sorry about your husbands loss. I suspect the drug will latch onto this already dose and hopefully kick in soon, maybe as quick at 2/3 weeks, could be 4 - 8 weeks. Ask him to walk everyday for 30 mins which will help, and as Rickton1 suggests avoid alcohol for now. Tell him we care about him and you, and do feel free to write to us so we may be of help and support. I send you both Love & Hugs. Sprinkle 1
