Ok, you're suicidal. But you came here to write about it so you would like some help. Here are 2 numbers to call that have counselors on hand to talk to you: 1.800.273.8255 or 1.800.784.2433. Just pick one and make the call.
You feel crummy because depression will do that to you. It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, depression will falsely make you feel worthless and hopeless and like you want to die. And of course that's painful and you want relief from the pain. But you don't have to die to get relief, you can get it through a psychiatrist and the right medication. You can feel normal again or maybe for the 1st time in your life. You really can. So don't give up just yet. I know because I've been where you are and I've now enjoyed many, many years of good mental health because my depression is treated correctly.
Is there anyone you know who can help you with finding a good psychiatrist and getting you to your appointments just to get you started? You need a counselor, too. Someone who's in your corner, helping you beat this ugly disease. Often a psychiatrist works from an office where there's a counselor on staff and your Dr. and the counselor communicate about how you're doing. It saves you trouble trying to bring each person up to speed during your appointments.
Have you made the call? It can be very hard to make a phone call when you're feeling so low, but push yourself to do it. You are worth the trouble!! What have you got to lose? I'm in your corner, write again if you need to.
Suesz is absolutely correct. Get HELP ASAP. If you can't find help right away, go to your nearest Emergency Room and tell them you need a psychiatric evaluation, especially if you feel suicidal. I'm alone, too and am suffering many medical problems and may have to go on dialysis relatively soon. I'm scared to death, but I see my social worker once a week and a psychiatrist once a month. I, also have my 3 dogs and parrots that I know I have to get up out of bed in the morning and care for them as they depend on me. Day by day, and just try to call the national numbers and get help from people who have experienced depression. People who are not depressed just don't seem to understand it. I still have not found a church that I like in my area, but I'm hoping that will be an additional avenue to find peace and have faith that we can get through depression. good luck to you and keep writing in. There are a lot of people to support you here and we can get support from all the blogs that folks write in about. Ruth 2
You are in the right place. I have only been on for a few weeks. If you are depressed you need to get to a therapist. Are your suicidal thoughts just thoughts or plans? That makes a big difference. I always ask are you on meds? They most definitely help. We all need help and this is a great site. Write back and keep in touch.
