High cholesterol

My doctor has prescribed generic Lipitor. I’ve been putting off any Rx for cholesterol a few years now. Wondering if anyone had any side effects as I haven’t picked it up yet. Or what you are taking with good results. Thanks!

Muscle pains. Cholesterol dropped from 220t to 165. I skip a day when I get the muscle pains. Start on lowest dose.

Thanks Robert, my brother said he does the same thing…skips a few days. We sure don’t need any more pain.

A number of years ago my Endicrinologist put me on Lovastatin because of the side benefit of lowering the Very Long Chain Fatty Acids and it did do some of that, but the heart muscle showed damage by blood testing and this can be a statin side effect. So please keep this in mind!

Thanks, yes, that’s what I’m afraid of. I still haven’t started the Rx as I’m just not sure what to do.

When it was suggested that statins (Lovastatin) can lower VLCFA, I asked my endo. Fortunately, no side effects and I discontinued it when advised it would not help with AMN.

My mum claims statins caused her chronic back pain. I honestly cannot speak to that.

Lipitor is the most prescribed drug in the USA.

If it is so harmful, there'd be all manner of knock-on coming from it. Maybe there is.

Back when I was matching my son burger for burger, doughnut for doughnut, et al, my cholesterol went from normal to through the roof. I changed to breakfast, lunch, dinner, no snacks, no junk, no booze, no fun. I lost 15 kilos in a year (all organ fat), and my cholesterol swung back to normal.

I won't suggest others bite the bullet like that, but all that junk food cannot do anyone any favours.

First month is the hardest. If I could sort any of my AMN symptoms that easily, I'd be denying myself all manner of pleasures.

That was years ago now. I am back on eating desert now, cholesterol remains fine.

Most prescribed drugs inUS.
