Hello Artemio

Well done for doing your research about AMN and trying to find things that may help with this disease.

However, I am sorry to disappoint you but I believe that the situation is this. Oleic acid does indeed reduced VLCFAs in the blood. In fact, oleic acid was one of the components of Lorenzo's Oil, which was, for a number of years held out as a therapy for AMN. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loren....

We now know that the key problem with this type of therapy is that the reduced VCLAs in the blood do not "cross over" into the Central Nervous System. This is because of the body's protective mechanism called the blood-brain barrier that protects the CNS.

Lorenzo's Oil has no beneficial effect for adults with AMN. It can have benefits for asymptomatic boys but I believe it's still of limited value. So oleic acid falls into the same category.

I am sure you are doing all the things you can to help you manage this disease. Keep stretching those leg muscles. Eat well. Avocadoes are good!

I see you are a new member and live in the USA. This community has many members from there. You may find people near where you live. Finding people nearby can help a lot by giving you support and tips.

When you have time, tell us some more about the treatment and medical support you are receiving.

Very best wishes

Chris
