Very interesting. At the bottom there’s a link to the table of foods to avoid and foods to eat.

New Study: Diet and ALD
Thank you for posting this. The only thing is though, is that far as I understand that the general consensus now is, that even if one lowers exogenous VLCFA consumption, that the body can still produce them endogenously and that the elevated VLCFA levels in blood, are merely a bio marker of this disease, and not indicative of disease progression.
I was going to reply something similar to you.
Then again, you are what you eat. Every time I return the the UK, I am fairly shocked at the levels of obesity, fried chicken shops seem to be rivaled by only betting shops.
I was a vegetarian from 18+, only because most of my friends were. Started on the meat when I married around 30.
Was only about three years later (after the weight gain) that my AMN kicked into overdrive. Then again, it was around the mean age for bad to hit worse.
There is likely plenty of data available to compare national diets with AMN severities. Whether it be Okinawa/Mediterranean diets with the typical junk eaten in Britain/America. That's assuming the countries have functional health systems.
I am always half-way shocked whenever I am in Japan, I get the annual letter inviting me down to the free medical exam. A healthy worker being a productive work-unit.
Sadly not really ‘new’ more like a reshuffling of Lorenzo’s Oil diet and findings (I wouldn’t be surprised if this study was founded by ALDixyl Oil - mentioned a few times and what has replaced Lorenzo’s Oil in Italy…)
I am confused why i never saw a study for Aldixyl specifically. It just seems like they assume it helps, but that diet isn’t practical to follow.
Not only, but my consultant at the NHNN London always stated that the very restricted fats diet without the Lorenzo’s Oil before (and ALDixyl now - as they claim in the research you posted) is useless and dangerous (myelin is fat… if you don’t eat any…).
I asked Dr Koehler (Leipzig University) and he advised to just follow a good healthy Med diet with olive oil in it 😆 (good thing I’m Italian!)
It is confusing… 🫤
Thanks for the encouragement! I’d die without olive oil plus cured meats and cheese haha. Dr Koehler is supposed to be really good I’ve heard
I wonder if there any benefit to take Aldixyl without the strict diet 🤔
😄 Same here 🧀🥓🍕😱…
I know in Italy some people affected take ALDixyl even without following the diet. Not a bad idea as 1) it’s free (thanks 🇮🇹’s NHS!) and 2) it contains interesting bits plus ever so useful antioxidants (Oleic and Erucic acid, Triglycerides of Conjugated Linoleic Acid - TGCLA - Alfaxyl® alpha-lipoic acid and Vitamin E)
Shame in the UK ALDixyl is considered a supplement, not a med, therefore if you want it you pay for it. An arm and a (dodgy) leg 😒
I plan to visit the Besta institute and to see about getting Aldixyl. I’m actually trying to get my Italian citizenship from Jure Sanguinis also. So you don’t have citizenship?
Excellent! At Besta you’ll meet Dr Salsano. Nice guy, maybe you can email him before embarking on the exercise.
Yes I’m an Italian citizen but in order to get the free health service you need residency ☹️ (Still a good idea getting the Italian citizenship though 😎🍀)
