Paralysed man walks using device that reconnects brain with muscles
This man broke his neck. Obviously paralysed him from the neck down. This brain-spine interface takes his brain waves and then transfers them to electrodes implanted further down his spine.
This technology is really moving now. A lot of Silicon Valley money is poring into medicine right now. Obviously, they aren't doing it for the benefit of mankind, but this kind of technology is bound to become cheaper/miniturised, et al. And likely way before any decent medicine comes on stream for us.

Whichever way you slice it, a quadriplegic back on two legs again is either a religious intervention or the stuff of science fiction.
