Electromyogram, nerve conduction, MRI, Gandolinium. It never ends.

Had my electromyogram, nerve conduction test on Monday.

Never felt so alone, or so sick as when I lay on that hospital bed in a darkened room with the electricity pumping into my ankle and all those electrodes stuck to my head.

No change from my last one three years ago. That's good news at least. Booked an MRI for February, neurologist wants me to have the Gandolinium infusion for the contrast in the Next MRI.

Has anyone here had the Gandolinium? What's the consequences? Is it going to make me as sick as a dog?

Talk to you later, folks.

Gandolinium infusion is used for contrast enhancement from surrounding tissue which is helpful to show any lesions while also improving the picture of your scan.

My neurologist has me take a CREATININE, SERUM, WITH GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE test before my MRI to ensure I do not have kidney disease. Gadolinium imposes a risk for acute or chronic renal failure.

I'm surprised you've not had gadolinium before. It's used to enhance the contrast between affected and unaffected areas and is now reasonably routine in most MRI scans (for instance I had it for a scan on my ankle a few years ago).

I've not had any side effects. Then again I don't have kidney problems.

Hi,

I have Gadolinium with every scan, it doesn't effect me at all, just a cold feeling when they inject it.

All the best
