Botox injections in bladder?

Hi,

I'm seriously thinking about having this procedure, it sounds a bit uncomfortable but I think 20 mins discomfort for 6 to 9 months of relief is worth it?

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has had this done?

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve,

I've done Botox injections in the bladder for 5 years. The pain is definitely quick and manageable, that being said I am female and I'd have to imagine it's not particularly fun for a man!

Botox has been helpful but certainly not life changing. If you're being told that it will "fix" or stop incontinence, I disagree. It will provide some relief in terms of how frequently you need to void but not with urgency in my experience. I highly recommend self-catheterization and have found this to be the best way for me to manage incontinence and fully void.

I hope this helps!

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I use intermitant self catheters at the moment has my bladder has very high pressures, I urinate normally then cath the retention but I still go too frequently! 2 days ago I went 14 times and yesterday 12, I've done 9 today so far and need to go again! So I think the Botox would benefit me to reduce the frequency and I catheterise anyway?

Thanks again

Steve

Hi Steve,

I say give it a go! You've got nothing to lose and honestly it's super quick and I think you're a superstar and will be just fine. Best wishes to you, please update me! Also, give it a full week to get a sense of whether or not it helps, there is a delay in the Botox really getting into your system.

All the best to you!

Hi Steve,

I've been referred for botox, just waiting for the appointment now. I started ISC a few months ago and it has helped a bit, but I'm hoping the botox will make it even better. I'll let you know how out goes.

Hi Steve,

I had it done a week ago and it's very encouraging so far. The procedure is uncomfortable rather than painful and doesn't take very long. It's probably halved the amount of times I need to go throughout the day (5-6 times), although at the moment I can't go naturally but was told that will even out after a couple of weeks. I still get urgency but only if I leave it for ages. I'd say definitely go for it, it's already improved my quality of life.

All the best
