Hi everyone. I am Sandra and i have just been newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after having blood test to rule out Arthritis. So now i know why i am in so much pain and feeling so tied most days. It's such a relief that the symptoms are not in my mind. Looking forward to reading any suggestions on how to cope with this condition.

Hi Sandra I go by a day to day bases . When I found out I had fibromyalga and me I kind of went downhill and got signed off work for 6 months which brought on depression . I woke up one day and put my foot down and decided to go back to work and fight.

Keep going back to doctors or pain clinics until your pain is under control.

It is hard some days and I just sit down and cry.

There are group meetings and your local sports centre in some areas have free swimming as the lottery have given funding for fibromyalga.

Thank you poopyann1 for your advice,, I have also been diagnosed with depression for some time now, and being treated with anti depressants plus pregabalin. I used to work but sadly had to stop to care for my disabled husband. I am going back to see my gp tomorrow to ask if she can refer me to a Pain Management. I know it's wrong for me to think that some nights as i lay in bed , i wish that i don't wake up the next morning, that's of course i get to sleep in the first place. I will mention this to my gp tomorrow as i know it's not right to be thinking this. Will keep you posted poopyann1. And thanks again for your reply.x

Doctors gave me amytriptiline to sleep I take 3 of them at night with 2 zapain and duloxetene 60mg , I sleep better but never a full night as fibromyalga effects your sleep.

Hi poppyann1. I can't take sleeping pills, as I have to be alert for my husband as he has severe asthma and could potentially stop breathing at any given moment so I have to be alert to administer his med. So I don't think docs will give me anything to help me sleep.

My pain doc is always afraid to give me anything that will make me drowsy it's a joke. Haven't been to him very long, I have fibro for last 2 years , plus a blood disorder which of course he doesn't treat , horrible back issues just had my third back surg and started PT and he dropped my pain meds down to two a day when my surgeon asked him not to due to I'm still in a lot of pain, have OA, being checked for RA now, knee and neck problems ! Can't hardly get out of bed most days though I do try. I'm looking for another pain doc now, but now all they want to do is injections and PT . I have had every injection plus surg and PT for back and neck and knees need a doc who will help with pain so you can have some life!

You are not alone that's for sure! Can't imagine all you have to do. You stay positive. My surgeon that just did my back surgery always tells me that cause I'm in so much pain, and he told me before my surgery that my Fibro would really flair up due to having this surgery. So it's pain on top of pain, but he tells me to think positive that I'm going to get better will just take longer. I've never had a doc say that to me before. Good luck to you!

Thank you, bless you too, it is very hard to stay positive when you live with so much pain every day.

I have fallen twice since my back surgery and have no pain meds to take in the afternoon so I suffer all day . Plus can't find a new pain doc. They all want to do injections which is fine at first ( not for fibro) but my back neck and knees there are only so many to get I have had them all. What about my fibro pain as well as the pain from everything else? I wish you so much luck on finding a good doctor!

Bless you
