Anticoagulants and blood clots

I have AFIB with RVR and have had three ablations, the AFib is mostly under control but I deal with other arrhythmia daily. I have been on eliquis for nine years. I did have a small stroke nine years ago after being electrocardioverted and was not on any blood thinners at the time.

Three days ago I saw like a shadow on my forearm and saw a vein that was hard like a cord. I had an ultrasound on yesterday afternoon and was told their was a blood clot. They tried to get in contact with my doctor but the computer system was down for the entire University and Medical. It was already 5pm so she sent me home saying I was ok as I was on a bloodthinner already. I left a message with my Dr and have yet to hear anything. My biggest worry is that yes I am on a blood thinner but it didn't prevent this clot from forming so I don't feel very safe. Has anyone else on this forum developed a blood clot while on an anticoagulant and what was done. Thank you in advance for any information.

Very unusual I would say. I know that some three or so years ago there were problems with some people taking rivaroxaban . This drug needs to be taken with a full meal preferably including some fat. People were taking it with a cup of drink and maybe a biscuit and it was not being properly absorbed. I have not heard anything like this with apixaban.(Eliqius ).

Bob I’m glad you wrote that. I will change the way. I take mine tonight. I have been taking it at night just with water with my other meds thank you for what you just did for
