There are plenty of other alternative rhythm control medications on the market. I am surprised your Cardio. has not offered any alternatives. I personally tried a number of different medications and some seemed to work better than others.
I would challenge your Cardio of trying some alternative medications or get a second opinion.
I eventually recently a abalation and so far I have not had any episodes.
Slow deep breathing using stomach not shoulders and less than six breaths a minute for at least five minutes. Works like a dream if you do it correctly.
might need to consider food you are eating, time of main meal of day and time this event hits you. It could be a vagal nerve issue whereby some foods and ingredients of main meal may be inflaming your VN. The vagal nerve acts like an information superhighway between brain, heart and the gut ( the digestive system ). Personally, if I had options I'd explore them first before hitting the candy jar !
Didn't think of that one have been on a low fat diet .last meal of the day is about 5 pm will try to see if I can do something it's worth a try thanks
If having at roughly same time at night, try having your evening meal at 3pm for a week and see whether your symptoms appear a few hours earlier. If not, then look for other habits you can make similar changes for. Suggest only 1 change at a time - at least initially as you won't know which change caused a different outcome.
I have been told i have persistant AF. MY Cardio handed me over to my GP who decided to try me over the last 6months on several other drugs after diltiazem started become innefective. I have been on verapamil a d various others 3 years ago. Now im getting large thumps in my chest / heart short breathed and headaches especially at night and excersize intolerance. Now i am being transferred over to a new one for me called carvedilol. It remains to seehow igo in the nextfew weeks. So whatI am saying there areaot ofdrugs out there to try. One i was put on 3 years ago caused me to flat line in the ambo after 11 days.It seems some of is are not able to tolerate drugs well and seem to be resistant.Take care. I have a pacemaker and may have to have an AV Node ablation in the near future.
as Bob suggested to me a long while, slow deep breathing made a difference to my ectopics. Someone here suggested to buy James Nestor’s book Breath which essentially explains that most people don’t breathe properly. It’s an interesting read. I’ve adopted some of the practices with nasal breathing even when I walk. I have the sense now that I’m in control of my heart
